Fiberglass Tub Refinishing
Fiberglass tubs and tub-shower units scratch, dull, and stain faster than other materials. Refinishing restores the surface without replacing the whole unit.
Why fiberglass needs a different approach
Fiberglass tubs are built with a gelcoat surface over a flexible fiberglass shell, which wears differently than porcelain or enamel. The coating has to bond properly to a surface that flexes slightly, and gelcoat is more prone to fine surface cracking (often called "spider cracks") over time. Getting the prep and coating right on fiberglass matters more than on a rigid surface.
What we check before we start
Before refinishing a fiberglass tub, we check for soft spots, flexing, or cracks that go beyond surface wear, since those can point to a structural issue a new coating won't fix. Minor chips and surface cracks are repaired as part of the job; more significant damage is something we'll flag honestly rather than coat over.
