Why clawfoot tubs are different
Clawfoot tubs are almost always cast iron with a porcelain enamel coating, and many are original to older homes. That means more surface area to prepare (often including the exterior, not just the basin), and a higher chance of rust, wear, or old repairs that need to be addressed before a new finish goes on. The tub's weight and shape also change how it needs to be masked and worked around.
Our approach
We inspect the tub closely before quoting, since condition varies a lot more on older cast iron tubs than on newer standard tubs. Chips, rust spots, and old touch-up work are repaired first, then the surface is prepared and refinished the same way as any other job, with the same attention to detail described in our five-step process.
